The Pinewood Judo Club was fighting in Swindon last weekend, in the West of England open tournament. Click here for the News Report.
The Northern Home Counties ran their split grade tournament last Saturday at the High Wycombe Judo Centre. This was followed by trials for the area team to enter the National team championships to be held later in July. This event was followed by the area trials for the National Team championships. There were only a few Pinewood Judoka entered but they had a good day. On Sunday Pinewood had a squad fighting at Portsmouth in the Hampshire Open Championships. Click here for the News Report.
The Kent International tournament was held last weekend at the Crystal Palace Sports Centre. The event attracts many foreign competitors so the standard of fighting is very high, making it a must for the British clubs to enter. Click here for the News Report.
Junior members of the Pinewood Judo Club were fighting in Nottingham last Sunday. The event was held at the Wildcats arena, had quite a high attendance in most weight groups and was well organised. Click here for the News Report.
Last Saturday a small number of the Pinewood Judo Club members fought at the Sasakawa Open Tournament held by the Samurai Judo Club in Kidderminster. Click here for the News Report.
The Pinewood Judo Club had two events last weekend. The one on Saturday was the Northern Home Counties yellow belt and below tournament at the High Wycombe Judo Centre. On Sunday some of these children and a few of the club’s higher grade Judoka fought in the Bedminster open event near Bristol. Unfortunately, as usual these days, the numbers were quite low but the tournament was well run; giving everyone as many fights as possible. Click here for the News Report.
A small squad from the Pinewood Judo Club fought in the Ippon Trophy Antwerp tournament in Belgium last weekend. The squad of 12 Judoka won 4 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze. Coach Don Werner was pleased with the result because the event was very strongly supported. Click here for the News Report.
There were three events for the Pinewood Judo Club last weekend. The veterans fought at High Wycombe in the Masters tournament. Coach Don Werner was with the Intermediate juniors at the Spring Tournament held at Bishopsgate School Englefield Green. The contest was well run and the Pinewood children had a good day, taking 9 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze trophies. On Sunday a few of these were joined by other children from the class at the Northern Home Counties red belt event at High Wycombe Judo Centre. This was a little higher ranked tournament. The Pinewood junior and youth Judoka were fighting last weekend, in the 61 Judo Club’s championships at the High Wycombe Judo Centre. It was a well run event and filled a gap for the club because there have been so many tournaments cancelled recently; due to a poor number of entries. Click here for the News Report.
The Pinewood Judo Club won another good medal haul last weekend at the London Age Banded Championship, held at the Chrystal Palace Sport Centre. Click here for the News Report.
The Pinewood Judo Club had quite a good medal haul last weekend. On Saturday the seniors were fighting in the 2010 Northern Ireland Open Judo Championships held in the Queens University Belfast. On Sunday the Pinewood juniors and some of the youth members fought in the Thomas Deacon tournament in Peterborough. It was quite well attended so they did well to win a total of 11 gold, 6 silver and 7 bronze medals. Click here for the News Report.

A training tournament was held at Pinewood Judo Club last Saturday morning. The aim was to give younger children a chance to get used to the procedures used in open competition. On Sunday the Pinewood Judo Club’s top junior Judoka were fighting in the North of England Championships at Bradford in the Richard Dunn Sports Centre. Click here for the News Report.
Pinewood Judo Club had an amazing contest programme last weekend; they were fighting at four competitions in three different Countries. Coach Don Werner took a selected squad to Belgium and Holland. On Saturday they were in Belgium fighting in the Ingelmunster International tournament. Sunday morning they moved on to Reuver in Holland to fight in the Piet Braken competition. Some of the seniors were fighting in Ipswich while the Pinewood second string fighters were fighting in the South of England junior and youth championships at K2 Crawley. The Pinewood Judo Club was involved in two tournaments last weekend, one at each end of the scale. The Goole Judo Championships was for under 12, 16 and 19 year old Judoka at the Goole Leisure Centre. The other event was the under 20 years National youth trials for men and women. Pinewood Judo Club fought in two tournaments last weekend, the club’s entry was quite small due to the fact that several of the club’s top fighters were carrying a variety of injuries and seasonal sickness. The events were the North West Age Banded Open for under 20 year old juniors at St Helens and the South Coast event for seniors at Worthing. Click here for the News Report.
Some of the Pinewood Judo Club’s Veterans were fighting last Sunday in the Northern Home Counties senior and veteran’s championship, at High Wycombe Judo Centre. On the same day club coach Don Werner was with the juniors at the Northbrook orange belt and under tournament. The event was divided into two groups, under 12 and under 16 year old boys and girls. This type of competition is of immense value to the lower grade juniors. Click here for the News Report.
Pinewood Judo Club fought in the Bristol Classic Tournament last weekend, on the Saturday. It was quite a strong event with a fair entry in most of the weight groups. Two sections were in action, the 8 to under 12 and 12 to under 16 year old boys and girls. Click here for the News Report.
The Midland Area Age Banded tournament was held last weekend at the Walsall Campus near Birmingham. It was strongly supported because it was nominated event for selection to the British Cadet and Youth squads. Click here for the News Report.
Pinewood Judo Club had its first tournament of 2010 last weekend at the North West senior and veteran’s competition; the two previous events had been cancelled due to bad weather. The event was held at the Sutton Leisure Centre in St Helens Merseyside. Jonathan fought in the Commonwealth Tournament at Singapore two weekends ago with exceptional success.
