Profiles
Pinewood Judo Club has a membership of approximately 100 – 120 judoka. The Club is divided into four groups, Beginners, Intermediates, Advanced and a group of Seniors who train for two hours on Wednesday evenings, mainly for recreation.
The next few pages give a few details on some of the members of the Advanced Class. This is the highly competitive part of the Club and comprises both men and women, boys and girls, ranging from Veterans to Juniors, 7th Dan to 1st Mon and World Champions to relative beginners.
The Class is taught exclusively by Don Werner, sensei, who has run the Club single-handed since he took over in 1958. Therefore, it seems very appropriate to open with the profile of the person that is totally responsible for the rest of the judoka and their successes.
