Goole Open
Goole, East Yorkshire was the venue for the Pinewood Judo Club last weekend. The event was divided into two groups, under 12 and under 16 years. They had a good result winning 8 gold, 7 silver and 6 bronze medals; this score also gave them the overall winner’s trophy.
In the under 12 year group Daniel King won bronze at under 25 kgs, Samuel Cowdrey took silver at under 27 kgs, then Marcus Trafford won gold under 34 kgs with some excellent judo techniques and Myles Trainor took the bronze medal.
The girls in this group had a reasonable day with Holly Eccles winning silver under 25 kgs and Rebekah Brown won bronze at under 36 kgs. This section was given a lift inn the under 32 kgs weight group by Emma Pang who won gold and Jenny Roberts took the bronze.
In the under 16 years group, due to lack of numbers, Tommy Ryan Hooper had to fight up a weight at under 34 kgs and he won the gold medal.
In the under 38 kgs weight group, it was an all Pinewood final with Dominic Naylor winning gold and Ben Roberts the silver. It was the dame at under 46 kgs when Charlie Davis won gold and Ben Jones the silver.
In the under 55 kgs weight group, Sam Trafford won gold and Elliot Trainor took the bronze medal. Matthew Sallis fought superbly to win gold at under 60 kgs and Bradley Pimley took a worth while bronze in the over 60 kgs open weight section.
For the girl’s Emily Harper won gold under 32 kgs and then came three silver medals from Nicole Brown under 44 kgs, Dominique Brown under 52 kgs and Charlotte Mansfield in the over 63 kgs open weight group.
