North West Aged Band / Southern Area Open

Pinewood Judo Club maintained their winning steak last weekend. They were fighting in the North West age band event which was a tournament for placing within the National junior squads.

The event was held at St Helens in the Sutton Leisure Centre near Wigan. On Saturday the younger Judoka were fighting and Pinewood won gold from Emma Pang, George Wyke and Annabelle Ryan Hooper. Silver medals went to Dominic Naylor, Paige Brazier and Tommy Ryan Hooper. Three bronze medals were won by Nicole Brown, Dominique Brown and Marcus Trafford.

On Sunday in the older groups Ben Fletcher won gold, Sarah Pang and Liam Franklin won silver then Sophie Pang and Sam Wyke both won bronze medals.

At K2 Sports Centre Crawley at the Southern Area championships Mark Naylor won gold at under 66 kgs in the kyu grade, coloured belt section. In the Dan grade section David Johnston Won gold at under 66 kgs and James Wilson took bronze. David, who has not fought in competitions for many years, went on to win gold at under 73 kgs and gold in the veteran section.
