Pembroke tournament, Pinewood Inter-Schools and South of England K2

Last weekend was quite a quiet one for the Pinewood Judo Club members. On Saturday Declan White and his sister Niamh fought at the Pembroke tournament South Wales. It was not too well attended so the organisers allowed Declan to fight in two weight groups; he took gold at under 34 and under 38 Kgs, Niamh won silver in the under 44 kgs weight group. Declan has had a good run of success of late, it was unreported, but last week he won a bronze medal in the National Schools championships in Sheffield.

The Pinewood club hosted an inter schools tournament and four club members fought in the open weight group. Cameron Charles won gold, Tom Huckstep silver, the two bronze medals went to Ryan Wilcock and Samuel Perez-Quane.

On Sunday two of the Pinewood seniors fought in the South of England championships at K2 Crawley. Samson Omonua won the silver medal in the over 100 kgs heavyweight group. Then John Eckhert fought in the Kyu grade section for blue belts and under; he had an excellent day winning the gold medal at under 81 kgs.
