South of England Open Green Belt & Under Championships

A reasonably large group of Pinewood Judo Club fighters made a trip to the K2 leisure Centre in Crawley last weekend to compete in the South Of England Green Belt and Under Championship.

It was a good day for the club, with an armful of medals taken home. With a total of 20 competing the totals were impressive with 6 Golds, 9 Silvers and 3 Bronzes across the various weight and grade groups.

Determined to fill their boots a small group then traveled down to Bristol on Sunday for The Bedminster Mini Mon Championship where Terri Gough finished a great weekend with a second Silver in a combined weight group that included U48kg competitors. Despite her weight and age disadvantage she got very close to winning her final with only her lack of experience letting her down.

The Jones brothers, Callum and Noah also polished off their weekend in style, with a Silver for Callum at U42kg and a Gold for Noah at U30kg.

Coach Mark Fricker was pleased with the medal tally but also with the

quality and style of the judo the children produced over the weekend feeling it bodes well for the future.

The club is currently recruiting new members so if you are interested in joining a winning team please call Mark on 07785 790190 for details.
