Northern Home Counties Masters, Junior Orange Belt Championships & Deinze Belgium

The Pinewood Judo Club members were fighting at the Northern Home Counties Masters and Junior orange and below Championships last weekend.

On Saturday the Masters, or as we often call them the Veterans, fought and the Club’s members did very well indeed. First of the mark was Samson Omonua, he won the gold medal in the over 100 kgs with some excellent Judo. Then Geoff Torrington won a bronze medal in the under 100 kgs weight group, in the next age band up.

In the M4 group Paul Knight won the silver medal at under 90 kgs and Mark Fricker took gold in the under 100 kgs weight group. Nigel Holloway fighting in the M6 group did well to take a gold medal at under 66 kgs.

On Sunday it was the turn of the junior squad, in the under 12 year’s group at under 27 kgs it was an all Pinewood final with Wade Muttitt wining gold and Alfie Thomas silver.

At under 34 kgs it was another Pinewood clear up when Oliver Greatrex won gold, Declan Whyte took silver and Ky Webb took the bronze medal. Robbie Deacon fought well to take bronze at under 38 kgs and Cameron Charles took the gold medal in the under 50 kgs section with some ease, producing some excellent Judo technique. Emily Brown did well to take silver at under 40 kgs.

Pinewood Judo Club had only a few entered in the under 16 years group, Eloi De Clerq won bronze at under 34 kgs and Ryan Wilcock produced some superb Judo to take the gold medal at under 46 kgs. Jamie Ryan took the bronze medal in the under 50 kgs weight group.

In the under 55 kgs weight group Harvey Williams and Thomas Huckstep took both of the bronze medals. The two girls entered in this group did well; Niamh Whyte equalled her brother’s score with a silver medal at under 44 kgs. Chrisse Webb was in excellent form taking the gold medal at under 47 kgs to round off a good weekend for the Pinewood club.

Last weekend Holly Eccles won a gold medal in Deinze Belgium under 32kgs.
