Due to the holiday period the Pinewood Judo Club had only seven Judoka fighting in the Northern Home Counties’ Pre Cadet and Cadet championships last week end. The event was held at the High Wycombe Judo Centre on Saturday and Sunday.
The Pre Cadets section for those born in the years 1999 and 2000 fought on Saturday. This section was rather poorly attended but Holly Eccles won the gold medal at under 40 kgs and Keira Bateman also won the gold medal at under 48 kgs.
The Cadet section for those born in 1996 – 97 – 98 was fought on Sunday and it was a national ranking tournment which was why it was quite strongly attended.
In the under 57 kgs weight group Jade Eccles and Olivia Spellman both fought very well but had to be satisfied with the bronze medals.
The other Pinewood fighter entered was in the under 66 kgs weight group. There was a goodly number of strong Judoka in attendance. Pinewood’s William Von Mallinckrodt is at the younger end of the group but he fought well producing some quite mature judo technique to win the gold medal.
