Micklefield orange belt

Following their success at Devizes, the Pinewood Judo Club’s lower grade juniors were fighting at the Micklefield orange belt grade and below event, held at High Wycombe Judo Centre.

The tournament was well attended, making the contests quite testing. The 13 strong Pinewood squad won 3 gold, 4 silver and 3 Bronze medals.

In the under 12 years section, Noah Jones fighting in the under 27 kgs weight group started the ball rolling with a gold medal against some strong opposition. At under 30 kgs Wade Muttitt won gold and Alfie Thomas won the silver medal.

At under 34 kgs Oliver Young fought very well indeed to take the silver medal; it will not be long before he starts to move up to winning open events. Ky Webb found his form and produced some excellent judo to win the silver medal at under 38 kgs.

Only two Pinewood girls were entered, K-C Franklin fighting well above her normal weight won bronze at under 26 kgs and Phoebe Deacon took bronze under 36 kgs.

In the under 16 years section at u8nder 38 kgs Oliver Greatrex won the silver medal, under 42 kgs Eloi De Clerq took the bronze medal. Rounding off the Pinewood result nicely, at under 55 kgs Cameron Charles won the gold medal. At only 12 years he is rather young for the weight but he fought with good technique and this allowed him to iron out the age difference; it was an excellent performance.
