Zondhoven Junior Open Competition. NHC Orange Belt & Under Junior Competion

A small group of Pinewood Judo Club’s juniors were in action last Sunday in Zonhoven Belgium where they attended the annual Zonhoven Open Junior Competition.

This is always a well attended event with weight groups decided on the day.

Noah Jones, Oliver Young, Dan Franklin, Jay Bennett and Rueban  Lord, all fought with great style and determination each gaining Gold medals in their respective groups.

One slip saw Tobias Chapman taking Silver and Phoebe Deacon, despite a huge weight disadvantage also claimed a Silver medal.

With 7 entries a haul of 5 Golds and 2 Silvers was very impressive, but more importantly each of them gained very important experience in an international event.

Closer to home at High Wycombe Judo Centre a number of Pinewood juniors were competing in the NHC Orange belt and under competition under the watchful eye of Paul Knight, who was their matside coach, Terri Gough fought very well taking a Gold medal with both Caitlyn Clark and Myles Traynor showed an effective range of technique to take a Silver apiece. Louie Reagan took a Bronze medal gaining valuable experience against higher graded players.
