Bedminster Judokwai Championship / Sidney Masters

Last weekend saw an intrepid band of Pinewood Judo Club’s junior warriors on the hunt for medals at The annual Bedminster Judokwai Junior Competition.

A group of 13 boys and girls had a very successful day on Saturday with everyone of them gaining a medal. This was a particularly good result given that some of them were entering only their first or second contest.

The Gold medalists were as follows:- Alfie Flint, Jay Bennett, Noah Jones, Oliver Jones, Dan Franklin, James Ferre, Terri Gough, and Emily Andrews.

Silver medals were won by:- Tobias Chapman, Callum Jones, Ruben Lord and Phoebe Deacon. Last but certainly not least was Isreal Suleman who managed to frighten a few more experienced fighters managed a bronze medal in only his second competition.

On Sunday Holly Eccles fighting up a weight group at U48kg also had a good day winning all of her fights with a mixture of effective standing and groundwork, losing only in the final to a girl who had been allowed to join the group from U52kg.

Further afield Pinewood Fighter Kevin Murphy continued in his winning ways taking a Bronze medal in the Sydney Masters in Australia. Kevin who competes in the M6 category (55 to 60 year olds) weighed in below his limit of U81kg only to find that they had combined his group with the M3 (30 to 35 year olds) U90kg group making his medal all the more impressive!
