Plymouth Open 2010

On Sunday the 17th Coach Don Werner took a rather small squad of juniors and senior Judoka to the Plymouth Open 2010.

The under 12 year did quite well, at under 30 kgs Daniel King won the gold trophy and Declan Whyte took the silver. There were more girls in the squad, at under 25 kgs Emily Brown won the bronze trophy and at under 32 kgs Holly Eccles won silver.

In the under 40 kgs weight group Eva Thomas won gold and Keira Bateman the bronze

trophy. Crisse Webb rounded off the section with a bronze at under 57 kgs.

The under 16 year juniors had a good run at under 42 kgs Tommy Ryan won gold and George Lawes the silver. John Forrest took silver at under 50 kgs and Ben Roberts, who was a little off colour, also took silver at under 55 kgs weight group.

For the girls at under 40 kgs Jenny Roberts won gold, Olivia Spellman silver and Jade Eccles the bronze. In the under 44 kgs weight Emily Harper won the gold with some ease then in the open weight group over 52 kgs Laura Tapping won gold and Nicole Brown the silver trophy.

The seniors had a good outing too, Matthew Sallis won bronze at under 73 kgs and Samson Omonua won the over 100 kgs weight group in a most spectacular manner.

Dominique Brown won the gold trophy at under 63 kgs and Laura Tapping took the bronze at under 70 kgs too complete the Pinewood weekend score.

Unusually the event had a good turn out in each of the sections and the organisers did an excellent job, getting the various groups fighting with very little waste of time at the change over.
