Bristol Mini Mon and South Coast Mini Mon

The Pinewood Judo Club fought their first tournaments of 2011 last Sunday. The Bristol County Open was for up to orange belts. In the under 12 years section Wade Muttitt won gold at under 24 Kgs and Alfie Thomas took the bronze medal. Under 27 Kgs Harry Hughes fought well to take bronze in his first contest for some time.

At under 30 kgs Declan Whyte won gold and Ky Webb took a bronze, Declan was in superb form. Under 38 kgs Pierre Roy won silver Ryan Wilcock took bronze under 46 kgs and Cameron Charles won silver at under 50 kgs. Chrisse Webb won gold in an open weight group.

James Widman fought very well to win gold under 27 kgs and Harrison John also had little trouble taking gold at under 46 kgs. Eva Thomas won gold in the under 40 kgs section and she also won gold in the open age group.

Kieren McMahon won silver at under 60 kgs and Daniel Brownlie took the bronze. Harvey Williams had a good day, he won gold at under 55 kgs and gold in the open age group. Olivia Spellman won silver at under 40 kgs and Nicole Brown did well to win gold at under 63 kgs.

Another Pinewood squad fought at Worthing and they took 9 gold and 1 bronze medals. The golds were won by Holly Eccles, Jade Eccles, Leah Blair, Sam Blair, Jenny Roberts, Ben Roberts, Kiera Bateman, Tommy Ryan and Christian Tepper. The bronze medal went to George Lawes in Tommy’s weight group.

This was a fair start to the 2011 contest programme; it gave them a chance to see if they had got through the holiday period in good form.
