Thomas Deacon Judo Club Under 21

Last Sunday the Pinewood Judo Club fought in the Thomas Deacon Judo Club’s Competition for under 12 year, under 16 year and under 21 year Judoka. The event was held in the Thomas Deacon Academy in Peterborough and it was well attended by many good class fighters.

The Pinewood squad won six gold, nine silver and five bronze medals. In the under 12 section the club had only three boys entered and Alfie Thomas won a gold medal at under 27 kgs and Daniel Franklin won the silver medal at under 34 kgs.

In the under 16 years section they had a considerably larger group and at under 34 kgs Declan Whyte won gold and Callum Jones took the silver. Christian Tepper won a bronze at under 42 kgs and Cameron Charles did the same at under 50 kgs. Tom Huckstep won the silver medal at under 55 kgs to match the silver medal he won on Saturday in the British Judo Council’s National tournament at under 60 kgs.

The girls had a good day at Peterborough, Holly Eccles won silver at under 40 kgs then at under 44 kgs Kiera Bateman won gold and Emily Brown took the bronze medal.

In the under 52 kgs weight group Jenny Roberts won the gold medal and Niamh Whyte took the bronze.

Olivia Spellman won gold at under 57 kgs and Crissie Webb took the gold at under 70 kgs. In the under 21 years section the club had six fighting, all on the youngest end of the group. William Von Mallinckrodt was in good form and he won silver at under 66 kgs and Ben Roberts also won silver at under 73 kgs. The girls produced a similar result when at under 52 kgs Jenny Roberts won silver, at under 57 kgs Olivia Spellman won silver and Jade Eccles took the bronze medal. Then at under 70 kgs Nicole Brown won silver to round off the days score for the Pinewood club.
