Red Belt Rumble High Wycombe and Western Area Open

The Pinewood Judo Club’s lower grade Judoka were in action again last Saturday in the Red Belt Rumble at High Wycombe Judo Centre.

In his first tournament ever Kyle Matthews fought in the under 27 kgs weight group and won the gold medal. In the under 30 kgs group Ruben Lord fought well to also win the gold medal and Jay Bennett took the bronze. At under 34 kgs Oliver Young won a bronze medal and then it was a double Pinewood final in the under 38 kgs weight when Daniel Franklin won gold and Louis Kotci took the silver.

The girls fought well, K-C Franklin won gold at under 25 kgs and Phoebe Deacon raised her performance to take the gold medal at under 36 kgs. This was an excellent effort by Phoebe, her best yet and it rounded off the under 12 year’s section for Pinewood. In the under 16 year’s age band The club had only one fighter entered, Caitlyn Clark won the silver medal in the under 57 kgs weight group.

In Gloucester at the Western Area Open three of the high grade girls were fighting. The event was well attended by many of the Countries top Judoka.

They had an excellent day, Holly Eccles won the gold medal at under 44 kgs, Kiera Bateman took silver under 48 kgs and Kymran Shergill won gold at under 52 kgs.
