Bev Price Memorial Teams and Southern Area

Last weekend the Pinewood Judo Club fought in the Bev Price Memorial team championships in the Glades Leisure Centre at Kidderminster. This year Coach Don Werner decided to only enter junior teams in three sections.

In the boys light weight section the entire 3 man team had to weigh no more than 100kgs total. The “A” Team of Elfie Thomas, Wade Muttitt and James Wildman won the gold medal and the “B” Team of Noah Jones, Declan Whyte and Oliver Greater won the bronze medal.

In the girls heavy weight section, again the entire team had to weigh less than 170 Kgs. The club only entered one team in this category and they also won the gold medal. The team was made up of three very experienced girls, Kiera Bateman, Olivia Spellman and Crissie Webb. Each girl won every fight with maximum points, quite an achievement because some of the teams had some very good fighters.

Holly Eccles was the only Pinewood Judoka to fight in the Southern Area Championship at Worthing. Holly did well to win two gold medals, the under 44 kgs was poorly supported so the organisers allowed her to enter the under 48 kgs weight group as well to get some extra fights. Holly went one better because she won this gold medal too.

This was not a busy weekend for the Club but the results were quite satisfactory and it kept the medals rolling in.
