Southern Area and Nottingham Open

Three of the Pinewood Judo Club’s girls fought in the Southern Area Tournament at Worthing last Saturday. In the pre cadets section Holly Eccles won the gold medal at under 44 kgs and Kymran Shergill took gold at under 52 kgs. Jennie Roberts fought at under 57 kgs in the cadets section and also won the gold medal; making it a 100% success for the Club.

On Sunday a group of eight Pinewood Judoka fought in the Nottingham Open Championships. The only Pinewood fighter in the Pre Cadets section was Declan Whyte and he won a bronze medal in the under 38 kgs weight group.

The others were all in the Cadet section and James Widman won silver at under 42 Kgs. The others were all Cadet girls, Holly Eccles won silver in the under 44 Kgs weight group, Kiera Bateman won gold under 48 kgs, Kymran Shergill gold under 52 kgs then Olivia Spellman won gold and Jade Eccles bronze at under 57 kgs. Crissie Webb also fought well to take the gold medal at under 70 kgs to round off the Cadet section.

The last two medals came in the senior section from Kiera Bateman who won gold at under 52 kgs and Olivia Spellman took gold at under 57 kgs. This rounded off an excellent weekend of Judo for the Pinewood Judo Club.
