High Wycombe Kyu Grade and Yellow Belt

Pinewood Judo Club had quite a good result last weekend at the High Wycombe Judo Centre. On Saturday the event was for senior Kyu Grades (coloured belts) and the club had three members entered; they won two gold and one silver medals.

First of was Stuart Cook, fighting in his first ever tournament, he won the gold medal at under 81 kgs with some excellent technique and good reactions to his opponent’s attacks. Lara Hewitt took the silver medal in the under 52 kgs weight group. Olivia Spellman fought in the higher grade section and won the gold medal at under 57 kgs; with some ease.

On Sunday the lower grade juniors up to yellow belt were fighting and they took a total of 6 gold 3 silver and 3 bronze medals.

First off the mark was the under 27 kgs weight group, Kyle Matthews won gold, Tobias Chapman silver and Alfred Flint took the bronze medal. In the under 30 kgs weight group Ruben Lord did quite well to win silver and Jay Bennett the bronze medal.

At under 34 kgs Oliver Young fought very well indeed to take the gold medal in a strongly supported group. Then in the also quite strong group of under 38 kgs Daniel Franklin won gold and Louis Kotc the bronze medal.

Terri Gouth in the girls section of the under 12 year old group won the gold medal at under 44 kgs to round off the section for the club.

In the under 16 years section Callum Jones had an excellent day winning the gold medal at under 34 kgs. Eloi De Clerq took silver at under 42 kgs and Caitlyn Clark rounded off the Pinewood weekend when she won gold at under 52 kgs.
