Last weekend saw Pinewood fighters competing at the Midland Area U21 Age Banded Tournament in Walsall. As a ranking event it is always well attended and fiercely contested, with a consistently high standard of competition.
On Saturday in the cadet girls section, Holly Eccles had a superb day taking the U44kg Gold medal, with Kiera Bateman fighting well to secure a Silver in the U48kg group and an on form Olivia Spellman sweeping her opposition aside to win a Silver in the U57kg section.
In a tough group William Von Mallinkrodt gained a Bronze medal at U73kg.
Olivia Spellman returned on Sunday and competed in the U21 years section to gain experience against the older U57kg fighters. Despite her age and strength disadvantage she took a very creditable Bronze medal.
Coach Mark Fricker was pleased with their performance.
