Last weekend saw Pinewood Judo Club fighters in action at the Northern Home Counties Ranking Event in Harlow.

On Saturday in the pre cadet groups at -38kg Declan Whyte gained a bronze with Oliver Greatrex taking silver. At -55kg Cameron Charles fought well to a silver.

The boys and girls cadet groups followed this with William Mallinkrodt taking silver at -73kg. Holly Eccles run of form continued as she took another gold medal in the -44kg. Not to be outdone Kiera Bateman matched her club mate with a gold at -48kg, her skills were evident as she won won her fights with a variety of armlocks strangles throws and hold downs.

Jade Eccles after a disappointing day the previous weekend put in an excellent performance,
losing only a closely fought final to take silver.

On Sunday it was the Junior Men and Women Categories as well as the Seniors. At -73kg Will Mallinkrodt and Ben Roberts fought each other in the semi final,an interesting contest saw Will eventually taking the honours and a place in the final.
Ben took bronze with Will gaining a silver. This was a great performance from both and particularly Will, given that he was competing in an under 20 category at 15 years old.

Emboldened by his success in the Junior Men Category Will then entered the Senior men at -73kg his confidence proved well founded as he produced some great judo and took a very impressive silver medal.

Crissie Webb who at 13 years old entered the Young Womens category -70kg with the intention of gaining competition experience against the older fighters, she achieved this and was also very happy to take a bronze medal in the process!.

The final mention goes to Caitlin Clark who travelled with her parents up to the Nottingham Red Belt Rumble on Sunday, as a novice red belt she made the 5 hour return journey worthwhile by winning a gold medal at -57kg.

Coach Mark Fricker is pleased with the commitment being shown by these competitors both in contest
and training.
